The community is invited to share ideas about the future of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and what the visitor experience might be like during a series of informal meetings slated this month.
These talk-story sessions are slated for:
• 3 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 16), Tin Shack Bakery, Pahoa.
• 5 p.m. Friday (Aug. 17), Pahala Plantation, Pahala.
• 1 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 21), Volcano Art Center Niaulani Campus, Volcano Village.
• 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, Kahuku Unit, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Anyone interested in the future of the park is encouraged to attend. Park Superintendent Cindy Orlando and other park managers will share the latest news about what’s going on in the park.
Most of the park has been closed since May 11 after elevated activity of Kilauea Volcano created hazardous conditions for staff and visitors. Park management will share their plans for recovery during these community meetings.
